PREPARE YOURSELF FOR TOUGH QUESTIONS IN UNCERTAIN TIMES
We live in uncertain, volatile times – with an increasing number of tough questions potentially swirling around us.
Last week Britain was a paid-up member of the European Union – the biggest single market in the world.
We start this week with Britain on its way out of the EU.
Last week Britain had a well-established Prime Minister enjoying his second term in office.
We start this week with David Cameron having announced that he’s on his way out.
Last week Britain had a relatively new Opposition Leader.
We start this week with Jeremy Corbyn facing a no confidence motion from his own Labour Party because so many traditional Labour voters ignored his advice on the European Union – which could put him on his way out.
Last week a campaigner for a British Exit from the European Union called Boris Johnson was seen as a lovable comic figure who was prepared to be photographed looking ridiculous.

So the UK could end up with a Prime Minister prepared to be photographed in all kinds of situations and with anyone – even Australians who got to vote in the Brexit referendum.
This week the British Exit has been followed by politicians in other countries talking about doing the same – looking at Frexit in France and Swexit in Sweden.
And Scotland – which voted to remain in Europe – is looking at holding a second referendum on independence to see if its population wants to leave the United Kingdom in order to stay in the European Union.
GET READY FOR THOSE REALLY TOUGH QUESTIONS
In such volatile times you need to be ready to answer questions from inside your organisation such as:
“Are our jobs safe with all this uncertainty and big falls in the value of the currency and the stock market?”
And you can face even tougher questions from outside your organisation, like:
“As your client, wouldn’t it be easier for me to get a supplier for your products and services from inside the European Union?”
What ambitious people in the workplace need in such challenging times is a guide to giving great answers to these kinds of challenging questions – and any others – that can arise in your first job interview, or to your farewell speech on the board, or all sorts of verbally critical situations in between.
